Vana & Nisvirua Yawanawá

Launch: February 23, 2024.

Completion: March 24, 2024.

Total raised: $600 USD (about 3000 Brazilian reals).

When we launched this initiative, Sam had recently returned from his first samakei (dieta) in the Yawanawá tradition, which he completed in Aldeia Sagrada (the Sacred Village).

He shared:

“During my time in the Sacred Village, I became very close with Vana & Nisvirua, a husband and wife who were in charge of preparing the food for all of us who were in the diet. Vana was like a mother to me at different points in the diet when I was sick or very weak and was in need of more support. Likewise, her husband, Nisvirua, was always helping with various logistical needs and had some incredible stories and wisdom to share. Vana & Nisvirua and their whole family were all very beautiful and brought a lot of love, light and joy to my time with the Yawanawá.

Shortly after I left the village, Vana reached out to me asking for help as Nisvirua needed surgery for a hernia. Dani and I (as well as some others from my diet group) have already donated what we comfortably can, which we know has been greatly appreciated. However, we feel more support would go a long way.”

We were thrilled with the success of this first initiative! And Vana was incredibly grateful.
